Either the day before, or the day of your closing, you will conduct a final walkthrough of your new home. We will make sure that the home you will be receiving is as you expected from your earlier showings, and your inspection. The most common things we are looking for are are damage from a move, or the removal of fixtures that were to be included with the property. After the walkthrough, we will head to the title company for the closing.
Don’t stress out…the closing is very casual. Your agent and attorney will provide you with a short list of important information leading up to closing. Be sure to pay close attention to this information. They will let you know what type of identification to bring, how much money to bring, and in what form to bring that money. (In some cases you will be able to bring a cashiers check, while in others, you may need to wire the money in advance.)
When you arrive at the closing, things sometimes move slowly, and in some cases we will have to wait for the banks to take care of some last minute tasks. Don’t worry about this, your agent will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You will want to be prepared to sign off on a large envelope of important documents. Your attorney and agent will be there to walk you through the paperwork, to ensure that you understand what you are signing. Within a few hours, you will be holding the keys to your new home!
